Volunteer with We The Revolt

Tell us a little about yourself and how you want to serve. It takes about ten minutes. A real person reads every application and will call you.

About you

We call every applicant. We only text you if you say so below.

Some roles have a higher minimum age.

How you want to serve
Roles you are interested in

Choose as many as you like. Roles with young people or inside facilities need a background check; we walk you through it.

Causes you care about (optional)
When are you usually free?
Your story

Completely optional. Your answer does not affect most roles; it helps us know you.

Mentoring, coaching, ministry, youth work, teaching, or anything you think is relevant.

Professional skills you could share (optional)
Do you have personal experience with the justice system? (optional)

Lived experience is welcome here, and it does not disqualify you. Credible messengers, people who have walked this road, are at the heart of how we work. For roles inside facilities, the agency that runs the facility makes its own decision; we will talk it through with you honestly.

References

Some of the roles you chose work closely with people, so we ask for two references: ideally people who are not related to you, such as a pastor, employer, teacher, coach or colleague. Please let them know we may call.

Only needed if you chose a role marked "References and an interview" or "Background check required".

Agreements

We The Revolt is a Christian organization. Our work grows out of our faith in Jesus and his call to bring good news to the poor and freedom to the captive (Luke 4:18). Many of our goals are spiritual, because the trauma and violence we see in communities so often start there. Everyone who serves with us represents that faith and is held to the expectations we set for our leaders and mentors. You do not have to share our faith to serve in most roles. You do need to respect it, and we will always respect you.

The background check box is only needed if you chose a role marked "Background check required".

Questions

Before you apply.

Do I need experience?

No. You need to be reliable, teachable and safe with young people. We train the rest.

Why the background check?

We work inside juvenile facilities and with minors. Screening protects them, protects you and keeps the trust of the families and agencies we serve.

Can I volunteer remotely?

Yes. Design, video editing, research, writing, prayer and tutoring roles can be done from anywhere.

Do I have to be a Christian?

Our work is rooted in Christ and we are open about that. Volunteers of any background who respect our faith-rooted approach are welcome in many roles. Some mentoring and ministry roles ask for a shared faith.

Will you text me?

Only if you say yes. We send scheduling and opportunity texts to volunteers who opt in. Reply STOP anytime to opt out.
