Events and Community Engagement

Plan and run screenings, community days and gatherings that receive neighbors, families and partners with dignity and order.

Screenings, community days, hip hop showcases, relief days and partner gatherings are where many people meet We The Revolt for the first time. Interns on this track plan and run them. A good event looks effortless because someone planned every detail: the permits, the run of show, the volunteers, the accessible entrance, the plan for rain. The people we serve are guests, never an audience to be managed.

What we need

  • Event planning: build timelines, budgets, vendor lists and run-of-show documents for screenings and community events.
  • Volunteer coordination: schedule, brief and support Event Crew volunteers.
  • Community outreach: work with churches, schools, community organizations and local businesses to invite neighbors and families.
  • On-site management: registration, accessibility, safety procedures and breakdown.
  • Evaluation: collect attendance and feedback, and write an after-action report for each event.

What we expect from you

  • Organization and follow-through. Details are written down, confirmed and confirmed again.
  • Hospitality toward every guest, with particular care for families, young people and returning citizens.
  • Calm judgment under pressure, and the discipline to escalate a safety concern immediately.
  • A cleared background check and safeguarding training, because events include young people and families.
  • Availability for some evening and weekend events.

What you will gain

  • Experience producing events from first plan to final evaluation.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers and working with community partners.
  • Practical training in event safety, accessibility and safeguarding.
  • A written evaluation at the close of the term and, on successful completion, a professional reference from your supervisor.

Deliverables

  • Complete planning documents for at least two events: timeline, budget, run of show and staffing plan.
  • After-action reports with attendance, feedback and recommendations.
  • An updated directory of community partners and venues for your city.
