The JCVI Fund
For the people who stay.
We are creating a fund for the people doing Juvenile Community Violence Intervention: the mentors, credible messengers and local leaders who meet young people at first contact and walk with them all the way home.

Why a fund
The work is real. The money has not caught up.
Much of community violence intervention was built to find people by their history. A fifteen year old has not written that history yet, so the young person at the start of the path is the one the system is least able to see, and the least likely to be funded.
The people closest to that young person are often working the same way: mentors, coaches, pastors, fathers and neighbors who show up whether or not there is a grant behind them.
The JCVI Fund exists to put real support behind them, one leader and one city at a time.
Where the money goes today
28 to 1
In Miami-Dade’s current budget, general youth services receive $3,031,000. Intervention for young people charged with weapon offenses receives $107,000.
Miami-Dade County, FY 2025-26 Adopted Budget
$176M
for juvenile detention centers in Florida in fiscal year 2024-25, against $4.2 million for services to youth at risk of commitment.
Florida General Appropriations Act, FY 2024-25
What it will support
Close to the young person, close to home.
- Mentors and credible messengers working with young people under 18, from the first point of contact.
- The return home. Support for young people leaving detention, through the year after release.
- Leaders in new cities learning the JCVI model and carrying it into their own neighborhoods.
- Honest measurement, so the field can finally see what works for this generation.
Doing this work?
We want to know you.
If you are walking with young people at risk of gun violence in your city, tell us who you are and where you work. When the fund opens, you will hear from us first.
Thank you. Someone on our team will reach out to you personally.
